The Maatsuyker wool blanket was originally conceived as a reliable field blanket for Tasmania’s exposed coastlines and cold interiors. It has since become a year-round companion for couches, beds, reading chairs, bedrolls, campsites and winter travel alike.
Woven from soft recycled Australian wool and hand-finished in Tasmania, the Maatsuyker balances warmth, durability and restraint. It holds heat effectively, resists wear, and is built to be lived with rather than handled carefully.
Unlike decorative throws, this blanket is made for daily use. It is warm enough for cold nights outdoors, refined enough for regular use at home, and durable enough to improve with age. Finished with a traditional whip-stitched edge and rounded corners, each piece reflects a deliberate approach to materials and longevity rather than trend or season.
Every Maatsuyker blanket is made in small runs and finished by hand in Tasmania. We build them to last decades, not winters, and we stand behind that with lifetime repair guarantee for manufacturing faults. Comes with an optional oilskin canvas drawstring bag and cotton strap, ideal for stowing away in a car, boat, or camp trailer.
